Yumori Medical Disclaimer
1. Yumori Is Not a Medical Device
Yumori is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any medical condition. The app is intended for general informational and educational purposes only. The estimates, insights, and recommendations provided by Yumori should not be used as a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
Always consult a qualified healthcare professional — such as a physician, registered dietitian, or licensed nutritionist — before making significant changes to your diet, starting a weight loss program, or addressing any health concern. Never disregard professional medical advice or delay seeking it because of something you read in or learned from this app.
2. AI-Generated Estimates Have Limits
Yumori uses artificial intelligence (specifically, Google's Gemini AI model) to analyze meal photos and voice descriptions and estimate nutritional content. These estimates are based on visual and textual recognition of food items and reference databases of typical nutritional values. They are inherently approximate. Specifically:
- Portion sizes are visually estimated and can be off by 20% or more compared to weighed measurements.
- Calorie and macronutrient estimates depend on the AI correctly identifying foods, which may fail for unusual dishes, mixed ingredients, or photos with poor lighting or angles.
- Brand-specific or restaurant-specific nutritional information may not be available, and Yumori will use generic averages instead.
- The accuracy of the underlying AI model may change over time as the model is updated by its provider.
Do not rely on Yumori's estimates for any purpose where precise nutritional accounting is medically necessary (for example, carbohydrate counting for insulin dosing in Type 1 diabetes, or protein restriction for kidney disease). If you require medical precision, use a clinically validated tool or consult your healthcare provider.
3. Who Yumori Is For
Yumori is designed for adults who are generally healthy and want to develop greater awareness of their dietary habits. Yumori is not appropriate for:
- Children under 13. Yumori is not intended for use by anyone under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are under 13, please do not use Yumori.
- Adolescents under 18 without adult supervision. Calorie and macronutrient tracking apps have been linked to disordered eating patterns in adolescents. We strongly recommend that anyone under 18 only use Yumori with the knowledge and supervision of a parent, guardian, or healthcare professional.
- People with active eating disorders (anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, ARFID, or others) or those in recovery from such disorders. Tracking apps may reinforce disordered eating patterns. If you have a history of disordered eating, please consult your mental health professional before using Yumori.
- People who are pregnant or breastfeeding. Caloric and nutritional needs during pregnancy and breastfeeding are substantially different and should be guided by your healthcare provider.
- People with medical conditions requiring specific dietary management. This includes but is not limited to: diabetes (especially Type 1), kidney disease, liver disease, eating disorders, food allergies requiring strict avoidance, or any condition for which your physician has prescribed a specific diet. Consult your healthcare provider before using Yumori as part of your dietary management.
- People on medication that interacts with diet. Some medications (e.g., warfarin and vitamin K, MAOIs and tyramine) require careful dietary attention. Consult your prescriber if you are unsure whether dietary tracking is appropriate for you.
4. What Yumori's Goal Recommendations Are Based On
When you set up Yumori, the app may suggest daily calorie and macronutrient targets based on the personal information you provide (age, sex, height, weight, activity level, goal). These suggestions use widely accepted formulas such as:
- The Mifflin-St Jeor equation for Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR)
- Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE) multipliers based on self-reported activity level
- Standard macronutrient distribution ranges based on goal type
These formulas are general and do not account for individual metabolic variation, medical conditions, medications, pregnancy, hormonal status, or many other factors that significantly affect actual energy needs. They are starting points, not personalized medical recommendations. If your suggested targets seem unrealistic, too aggressive, or inappropriate for your situation, do not rely on them. Consult a registered dietitian or your physician.
5. Coach Insights Are Observations, Not Advice
Yumori may generate "insights" about your eating patterns over time (for example, "your protein intake has been below your target for the last 5 days"). These insights are pattern observations generated by AI, not personalized medical or nutritional advice. Do not act on these insights as you would on advice from a qualified professional. Use them as conversation starters with your healthcare provider if a pattern concerns you.
6. No Guarantee of Accuracy or Outcomes
We make no guarantee that:
- Yumori's nutritional estimates are accurate.
- Following Yumori's suggestions will result in any specific health outcome (weight loss, muscle gain, improved health markers, etc.).
- Yumori is suitable for your particular situation.
Yumori is provided on an "as is" basis. Individual results vary significantly based on factors outside the app's scope.
7. Emergencies
Yumori is not designed to handle medical emergencies. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call your local emergency services immediately.

8. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Yumori and its operators are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the app. This includes but is not limited to: health consequences from acting on Yumori's estimates or insights, missed nutritional needs, delayed medical treatment, or psychological effects from tracking behavior.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or limitations of liability. In those jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the greatest extent permitted by law.
